On February 3, 2016, the King signed RE-001 into law. RE-001 is also known as the Metric Conversion Act. This Royal Edict requires government institutions to convert all measurements to the metric system by February 29th. The edict also recommends that citizens use the metric system as well, but that they are not required to. The government has started the conversion under the King's direction, as required by the edict.
Kaylee Smith, the Mallanorian Minister of Culture, announced that she has stepped down from her position on the Royal Council on January 20. She cited a lack of time to devote to her duties as the primary reason for her resignation. The former minister was involved in many government projects, primarily in the area of graphic design. She designed the alternate flags that were present in the flag design election. She was in the process of drawing a new national Coat of Arms and designing coins for the future monetary system at the time of her resignation. Kaylee stated that even though she is resigning from her position in government, she will continue to participate actively as a citizen in elections.
